GSM Network Surveying

Delma MSS has developed a range of GSM network mapping tools, from the PDA-based Cell-Seeker I™ system to the Cell-Seeker III™ multi-network high speed mapper.

These devices capture the relative power of each GSM Cell at each survey point, measured every 2-3 seconds. Data captured includes date, time, LAC, Cell ID, power (db), lat/long, altitude and MCC, showing the footprint of all Cells. GPS positions of readings is also taken. The devices can access any 2G, 2.5G or 3G network globally.

The data is then uploaded to Delma MSS’s proprietary Cell-Seeker back office system for mapping and locating purposes.

The Cell Seeker I™ PDA based mapper is highly portable, and can be taken into the most inaccessible of areas for the taking of readings. Cell Seeker III™ high speed multi network mapper is a laptop based system using the 5218 chip. Multiple networks can be mapped simultaneously, and large geographical areas covered quickly.

Besides their essential mapping uses, Delma’s mapping devices are also cost effective and efficient tools for network operators wanting to understand and optimise their network coverage.

They also allow land owners to audit mast placements and services attached and actual usage by operators.
